2015
In May 2015, to facilitate the popularization and promotion of calligraphy knowledge, the Ministry of Education issued three documents including the Measures for the Evaluation of Artistic Quality of Primary and Middle School Students. Among them, the Index System for the Evaluation of Artistic Quality of Primary and Middle School Students (Trial) specifically stipulated that "calligraphy specialized students will get an additional 10 points".
2021
In April 2021, to further inherit and develop fine traditional Chinese culture, the Ministry of Education established the China Calligraphy Education Steering Committee, aiming to promote calligraphy education in schools and classrooms.
2018
In 2018, the Ministry of Education stated in the notice on Summer Vacation Management for Primary/Secondary school and Kindergarten Students(2018):Students are encouraged to actively participate in various cultural and artistic (painting, calligraphy) educational activities.
2022
On September 13, 2022, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on the Postgraduate Education Discipline and Specialty Catalog (2022) and the Measures for the Administration of the Postgraduate Education Discipline and Specialty Catalog, officially listing calligraphy as a first-level discipline.
2019
In July 2019, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued the Opinions on Deepening the Reform of Education and Teaching to Comprehensively Improve the Quality of Compulsory Education, which clearly stated that efforts should be made to strengthen aesthetic education, implement the action to enhance school aesthetic education, strictly implement courses such as music, fine arts, and calligraphy, and develop local culture-based art specialty courses.
2024
According to the trial specifications and catalogue issued by the Ministry of Education, 12 provinces have announced guidelines for the 2024 provincial unified calligraphy examination, introducing it as a new requirement from 2024.
